What a little gem...a delightful gite in the middle of beautiful countryside quiet and peaceful with chickens and sheep yet with so much to see and do a short drive away. We visited the Bayeux tapestry, the landing beaches for D day, St Mont Michel, St Malo, charming villages and costal towns. Ate loads of moules and drank excellent wine for little cost. We enjoyed bbqs over wood fires and the log burning stove in the gite. Fresh eggs from the chickens, and had a warm welcome and help from the owners...... what more could you ask for?

Dear Chris & Carolyn
We had a lovely stay at Cottage La Hamel au Maigre, it worked perfectly well for us as a family of four plus 2 dogs. We were looking for a quiet getaway with plenty of countryside walks along with easy driving distance for day trips to key locations in Normandy, such as Omaha beach, Arromanches and Mont Saint Michel. Kids really loved it there, they were so excited with the chickens and Sheep not to mention collecting eggs for the morning breakfast. Chris & Carolyn were extremely friendly a lovely Family. On our arrival we were greeted with a lovely bottle of red wine, a delicious homemade cake oh and beers too...:-) very welcoming after our long drive from Germany! Chris and Carolyn were very good hosts who left plenty of information at hand so that one can plan their journey on things to do and see in the Normandy region and believe me there is plenty....extremely educational. I would Highly recommended this cute little cottage and we'd definitely consider staying again for our next visit to Normandy thank you again :-):-):-)

We arrived late at night and found the fridge had all the essentials needed as we had forgotten to visit a supermarket on route. It is a charming gite with apatio area that is an absolute sun trap where you can just sit and relax and totally de stress. Excellantly situated for all the normandy sites. Mr and Mrs Watts live nearby and are extremely helpful people no problem is to small.

March 16-21, 2017 What a great 55th. Anniversary - although a chellange to find without a gps our phone maps were unaivalable.
We arrived late but Chris was there to welcome us and although all the grocery stores were closed he got some bread and the fridge had the basics for making supper and a wonderful lemon cake.
Next day we went to the Auberge de l'abbaye d'Hambye for an outstanding 55th. anniversary dinner.
The cottage was beautiful and everything we needed was supplied.
Great location for visiting the WWII beaches and historical locations.
would highly recommend it

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage - it is perfectly situated for places to visit, beaches that are brilliant for children and lovely walks. We had a perfect 2 weeks and Chris is a great host - very welcoming and answered all our questions with patience !! The cottage was lovely, spacious and clean - the children loved the animals and spending time with Chris at feed time. Would recommend to anyone and cannot wait to return. Thank you for making it such a fab holiday.

We spent 2 weeks at this wonderful site this July/August, what a wonderful time we had with our 3 children! We also arrived late and Chris welcomed us, lovely cake and vin rouge waiting for us :-) The setting is wonderful, lovely countryside, so peaceful. Wonderful having animals around and our 4 year old loved feeding them with Chris each morning and seeing the dogs. It's an excellent location, so many places to visit and see, wonderful beaches, nice walks near the gite and the beautiful abbey. We had a very busy and really fun 2 weeks. The gite was very clean and very cosy, there is everything you will need, and more. The garden is very nice, with 2 seating areas and we used the fab BBQ many times. Percy isn't far, with a good supermarket. Writing about it all makes me miss it!! Carolyn and Chris was really welcoming and helpful and even made sure our little man had a cake on his birthday :-) Can't recommend this gite highly enough, it's all you need and more and brilliant location, not a big drive to the ferry either. Can't wait to return
